Makram’s musical career began with playing Rock and Blues in the music clubs of Beirut, Lebanon. As time progressed, he became intrigued with Jazz and pursued his studies in Jazz and Classical music at the Lebanese National Conservatory. Makram’s real education, however, came from his extensive playing schedule.
Makram is one of the most sought after musicians in Beirut because of his ability to
cover a multitude of styles such as Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin and Classical music. He has played on a nightly basis with many diverse local acts and international artists.
Being a skilled and hard working musician, he was rewarded with opportunities to perform with the likes of Cedar Walton, Randy Brecker, Larry Coryell, Ricky Ford, Arthur Satyan, Giovanni Cecarelli and Cyrus Chestnut. Along with great Blues musicians like Carl Weathersby, Eddie Van Shaw, Deborah Coleman and Jazz Fusion guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly.
He has spent a considerable number of hours in the recording studios of Beirut and is featured on several local artists' albums (Oumaima Khalil, Macadi Nahhas, Samir Nassereddine, etc.). He was the bassist of the Lebanese Conservatory Big Band for four years and is a member of the popular Lebanese Rock group MEEN, performing and recording with them since 2008.
Currently, Makram is back in Beirut after studying in New York and The Netherlands. He is a member of The Lebanese National Philharmonic Orchestra and a regular performer in Beirut's Jazz scene.
